Sund Energy was founded by Karen Sund in 2007 and is now a diverse, international team of experienced partners, supported by junior staff. This increases flexibility and maximises the value delivered to clients throughout each project. The head office is in Oslo, Norway, but experts are also located in San Francisco, Stockholm and Helsinki.
Sund Energy covers several energy forms and backgrounds, which is useful in taking bias out of the assumptions made frequently in strategies and business models. This opens for more upside in opportunities, and reveals risks earlier, without dismissing weak signals. The experts excel at difficult tasks, and have on several occasions assisted our clients to achieve “the impossible”.
Much of what Sund Energy does is “bridging” environments across the areas of energy, economics and environment, by assisting clients in designing optimal strategies, and in understanding their counterparts and stakeholders. Mindsets are diverse, and the right answer is often not the same for all parties.
The core of business is global natural gas, where the company’s experts understand the full value chain – production, infrastructure, demand – and in addition prices, regulation/ policy and players. All advice is neutral and unbiased, seeing the full energy picture, often adding commercial and strategic insight, as well as making solutions robust to uncertain futures and long-term sustainable. Sund Energy increasingly uses these skills in other challenging value chains such as unconventional gas, carbon capture and storage, biogas and other renewable energy sources.

Second opinions: Sund Energy provides views from outside the organisation and support in uncovering bias in projects, technologies, energy forms, companies or nationalities – also, and more often, on future developments and assumptions made.
